This illustration began as just the painted background and I used pastels to create the woman. It shows how lonely cancer can be, the woman looks as though she is holding on for support. This is a more impressionist style of image making, It alludes to the questions what is illustration, as it shows what kind of impression can be made by the use of unusual combinations of media.
