What is illustration 22

Tecciztecatl- 'Not all dieties associated with the moon are Goddesses. This is an example of a male God which is associated with the moon. What is interesting about the myths surrounding him are how many of the same symbols are found in the stories about him. Although he was an Aztec God, there are associations with Asian cultures (he was a rabbit for example, associating him with the aforementioned moon rabbit) and even associated with the modern day myths like the story of the man on the moon'.

He is often seen with a sea shell, representing the moon.
For this piece I used writing ink, fineliner and watercolours. It was a lot of fun as I very rarely feature males in my work. I liked doing the arrangement of muscles for some reason. I used this http://browse.deviantart.com/resources/stockart/model/men/malenude/?order=5&offset=24#/d2xb6dx as a reference for the man. The swirl is supposed to represent space itself, whilst the patterns in the rectangle is supposed to represent the chaos and complexity of space.

Ah, Fine art, a friend of mine studies that too and absolutely loves it. She said it's really free about what you want to draw/paint etc.

Thank you for your compliments =) xx
