What is illustration 20


Moon Rabbit- "This is an interesting myth because it crosses several different cultures. The moon rabbit or jade rabbit is said to be one of the companions that Chang'e was eventually allowed to have with her on the moon. However, it is also a symbol that shows up in myths about the moon in Korea and Japan.
These are my preliminary sketches and the final piece (Cut from paper).
More research showed that legend tells it being under a cinnamon tree and is sometimes found pounding a pestle and mortar (Japanese) and pounding the elixir of life (Chinese)

  1. I really like this one, it has a nice crisp style to it. I think I like the style also because I am a fan of the Okami game which graphics were done in the Japanese Sumi-e style so lots of curves
